All European capitals from Rome to Berlin already have their own version of Notre dame de Paris, now Astana has joined them.

With the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan, Astana hosted the premiere of the cult French-Canadian musical Notre Dame de Paris in Kazakh language! 

This spectacular musical project of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan was presented by a young, but already in time to declare itself Astana Musical Theater of the State Concert Organization “Kazakh Concert”.

After successful performance in Kazakh language of globally famous musical Romeo and Juliet by Gerard Presgurvic, Astana Musical Theater for the first time introduced the Kazakh audience in Kazakh language the musical Notre dame de Paris by R. Kochchante and L. Plamondon on the subject of the novel by V. Hugo The Hunchback of Notre-Dame.

Kazakh audience heard in Kazakh language the famous musical hits “Belle”, “Danse mon Esmeralda”, “Le Temps des Cathedrales”.

Produced in Paris 20 years ago, the musical still collects sell-out, and entered the Guinness Book of Records as having the greatest success in its first year of operation.

The musical is translated into 9 languages ​​of the world, undoubtedly, this work will enrich the repertoire of the national theater.

More than 70 talented actors, soloists, dancers and acrobats took part in the Kazakh version of the musical. All these months they were lucky to work with composers, directors and choreographers of the original production Notre-Dame de Paris.

The composer of the original production Riccardo Cochchante, the film director Robert Marien, the choreographer Nadia Buttignol and the European and world aerial gymnastics champion Jonathan Ghadan were involved.

Kazakh version retained the storyline, as well as famous musical compositions that have become globally famous. The scenery for the performance and the costumes were sewn in Kazakhstan.

The audience was satisfied and gave standing ovation and did not let the artists leave asking to re-sing “Belle” song in Kazakh language.

The fact that the musical was performed in Kazakh language is a huge success not only for our country, but also for the whole of Central Asia. Next year is planned to show this musical in Tashkent.
