Daily Flights From Abu Dhabi to Malaysia

The Consulate General of Malaysia in Dubai wishes to share with all Malaysians in the UAE, in particular to those who are residing in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain that the Etihad Airways has announced its additional daily flight between Abu Dhabi and Kuala Lumpur with effect from July 15, 2013.
The good news is that the new flight schedule is set to add 1,400 new seats per week to the route – which is an increase in capacity of approximately 23 per cent. The Consulate views that the additional flight is seen as a significant boost to the Malaysian tourism industry as well as to the other sectors. The announcement was timely in supporting the ongoing promotion of VISIT MALAYSIA YEAR (VMY) under the theme “Celebrating 1Malaysia Truly Asia”.
The VMY 2014 promotional campaign has started this year with a series of year-long special events and activities leading to VMY 2014. The Malaysian Government is targeting for 36 million tourist arrivals and RM168 billion in receipts by 2020, as outlined in the Malaysia Tourism Transformation Plan (MTTP) 2020.
According to the Eithad Airways, the airline’s new double daily schedule caters for the growing demand for travel between Abu Dhabi and Malaysia and will provide Etihad Airways guests a greater choice of travelling times. Malaysian travellers will enjoy shorter connection times in Abu Dhabi and more convenient onward travel to Europe. On the same note, travellers from other points on Etihad Airways’ network will also benefit from the extra daily frequency to Malaysia and improved connections in Abu Dhabi.
The Consulate has been advised that the double daily flights will be operated by two Airbus A330-200 aircraft with a two-class configuration of 18 seats in business class and 236 in economy class.
“This additional flight capacity will boost tourist arrivals into Malaysia as it is very timely that Etihad Airways mounting the additional flights. This effort will support the Visit Malaysia Year 2014 campaign initiatives. Tourism Malaysia is excited about this developmentthat will increase the air accessibility to Malaysia from daily to two times a day to Malaysia”, said MohamadTaib Ibrahim, Director Tourism Malaysia Dubai office.
The Director of Tourism Malaysia also confirmed that Tourism Malaysia and Etihad Airways are scheduled to embark a joint promotion campaign in the United Arab Emirates market to further encourage more Emiratis and expatriates residing in the UAEto visit Malaysia in the celebration of Visit Malaysia Year 2014.
